Usability

On the front of the machine, there are simple and responsive controls that are easy to use. However, there is not a door chart for you to easily select your settings, so it would help if you had some knowledge of setting up a welder. The Poweri 140 does not come with the flux-cored function included. If you’re looking for an option for flux core welding then you will have to either look at other similar welders, or you can purchase a separate drive roller.

If you’re using this it’s best suited to home welders and garages for welding mild steel or stainless steel. You can also weld aluminium with the purchase of a spool gun. The welder is a lightweight device but it does still pump out a decent amount of power and it does from 24 gauge up to 3/16 comfortably. I’ve used this to weld 1/4 inch with decent results.

Power

The welder has a 110V input power so you can plug it directly into your plug socket at home. It also offers a really good duty cycle for a 140, with 60% @ 90A, which is much better than the standard 20% @ 90A and the best duty cycle that I can think of for a 140A.

One positive about using this is the infinite control of wire speed and voltage are really useful as it means you can really fine-tune the settings to get the best possible results.

Transport

One of the best features of the Poweri MIG 140 is that it’s super light. It has an inverter based design so it uses a much smaller transformer which lowers the power and reduces the weight to just 28 pounds. This low weight, plus the handle that is attached to the top of it makes it really easy to carry anywhere you like.

Price

Costs slightly less that other welders in the same category, but with this you don’t get all the features such as flux-core and control of the settings. One strong positive is that Everlast produce durable machines, and this welder has a 5 year IGBT Inverter Unit warranty, so you don’t need to worry about it breaking.

 Who Should Buy This?

This is a great choice for anyone looking for a small MIG welder for speedy jobs such as contractors or people who just do the odd general repair. It’s a solid machine that will last a long time and gives you infinite control of the wire feed and voltage settings. It’s easy to control, but it would help to have some welding experience as there’s no welding chart for beginners.
